How to Make a Keto Peanut Butter Smoothie {Quick Overview}

This is just a quick overview of how to make this low carb peanut butter smoothie. For the recipe in detail, scroll to the recipe card at the end of the post.

Add all smoothie ingredients to blender except ice and blend until smooth.

TIP: Want a thicker smoothie without adding more ice? Add 1/8 tsp xanthan gum at this step! It’s net carb-free and will increase the thickness of the smoothie. You can double it to 1/4 tsp if want it a little thicker, but no more than that – too much xanthan gum and your smoothie will end up kind of goopy (not a great texture!).

Then add ice.

And blend one more time.

TIP: You can add more ice if desired, but that may dilute the flavor slightly and require you to add additional keto-friendly sweetener to taste.

Pour into a glass and top with chopped peanuts and keto-friendly chocolate. For an even more dessert-like treat, top with keto whipped cream!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is peanut butter keto friendly?

Yes, peanut butter is keto friendly as long as you look for an unsweetened brand. Not only should you use unsweetened peanut butter, but you should make sure it contains no other ingredients but peanut butter and (optionally) salt. Some peanut butter brands try to sneak in hydrogenated oils in addition to peanuts, but you don’t want that in your peanut butter!

    I love this Keto peanut butter smoothie! This makes a very refreshing drink to reward myself after exercising. I am very fond of peanut butter so this is especially good to me. I did add 1/4 teaspoon of xanthan gum to thicken it up. Great recipe and super quick to make.
