What is a good keto mayonnaise brand?
If you want the healthiest keto chicken salad, you should opt for a brand of mayonnaise that isn’t filled with soy oil like many popular brands, such as Primal Kitchen. I buy mine from Thrive Market (aka the Costco of Whole Foods!). Read my Thrive Market review and get a free gift with your first order!
Is Bibb lettuce good for keto lettuce wraps?
Bibb lettuce is a soft lettuce with a buttery flavor that can be found year-round in grocery stores. The small leaves are the perfect vehicle for small keto lettuce wraps!
Is mayonnaise good for keto?
Yes, mayonnaise is a keto-friendly food that contains 0-1g net carbs depending on the brand.
That said, you will want to be mindful of the ingredients in the mayonnaise you choose. Just look at the ingredients list from this Hellman’s Olive Oil Mayonnaise:
Water, Soybean Oil, Olive Oil, Whole Eggs and Egg Yolks, Modified Potato Starch, Sugar, Distilled Vinegar, Salt, Lemon Juice Concentrate, Sorbic Acid and Calcium Disodium EDTA (Used To Protect Quality), Natural Flavor, Paprika Extract
Yikes! Note the soybean oil (inferior quality oil), potato starch, sugar, and chemical ingredients.
Compare that to the Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil Mayonnaise I referenced above:
Avocado Oil, Organic Eggs, Organic Egg Yolks, Organic Vinegar, Sea Salt, Organic Rosemary Extract.
What a difference, right?
My tips for consuming mayonnaise on keto:
- When possible, opt for mayonnaise with the least amount of ingredients.
- If you don’t have any other options (like when you’re eating keto at Burger King), use whatever mayonnaise is available since it is low in net carbs, but be mindful of your consumption.
Is Hellman’s Mayonnaise keto?
Hellman’s Mayonnaise is keto-friendly, but the less-than-ideal ingredients make it a less attractive choice than mayonnaise brands with fewer processed ingredients.
Is chicken keto approved?
Absolutely! Chicken is a wonderful food to eat on keto. Some of the most popular keto chicken recipes on this site include Keto Chicken Crust Pizza, Keto Chicken Alfredo with Broccoli, and Keto Fried Rice and Chicken.
