One of the common misconceptions about the keto diet is that you can’t have any alcohol on keto. Fortunately, that’s not true! While you shouldn’t be knocking back shots every night (not only is it hard on the body, but you may be more tempted to cheat), hard liquors are carb-free.
The classic vodka soda is one of my favorite ways to enjoy alcohol on and off keto, and thankfully this refreshing drink fits perfectly into a keto diet. I like that this drink pairs alcohol with (carbonated) water, helping increase hydration – which is important because alcohol is a natural diuretic.
Why You’ll Love This Keto Vodka Soda
- It’s a refreshing drink that allows you to enjoy a little alcohol on keto guilt-free.
- Thanks to the addition of carbonated water, this drink will help keep you hydrated while drinking.
- The lime-flavored carbonated water pairs perfectly with vodka.

- Lime-flavored carbonated water – for an easy and inexpensive alternative to store-bought lime-flavored carbonated water, use a SodaStream and Bubly Lime Drops.
- Vodka – I use Smirnoff 100 Proof Vodka
- Ice
- Lime slices
How to Make This Keto Cocktail {Quick Overview}
This is just a quick overview of some of the steps involved in making the low carb vodka soda. For the recipe in detail, including exact measurements used at each step, scroll to the recipe card at the end of the post.
To a glass, add vodka, lime-flavored carbonated water, and ice.
(Optionally, add ice first and pour vodka over ice. Add carbonated water until the glass is full as shown below.)
Garnish with lime slices and enjoy!
TIP: While this recipe calls for 4 oz carbonated water, you’re welcome to add more to make your drink last longer and help with hydration.
Why I Love Using My SodaStream for Keto Drinks Like This One
I used to buy lime-flavored carbonated water, but my obsession with carbonated water started to really add up! For that reason, I purchased a SodaStream and use Bubly Drops to make the water the flavor of my choosing much more affordably than buying cans or bottles of carbonated water at the store.
TIP: For the best carbonation, make sure your water is completely chilled. Don’t stick it in the freezer though – if even a small amount of the water is frozen or slushy, the carbonation will actually freeze and make your water chunky (or explode out of the bottle).

It is! I hope you enjoy it, Manu!
I tried this recipe for Keto Vodka Soda when I had my friends over last night. It was so good. I am glad to have yet another use for my SodaStream. Vodka soda may become my Friday night treat. Thanks.
I used Bubly drops for a while, UNTIL I discovered they include PROPYLENE GLYCOL in the ingredients. Now, no WAY! But the rest of the drink is great! Just add more lime!
Hi Linda! Thank you for the feedback. Adding lime or lime juice is a great substitute! I just made one of these Friday night with a splash of lime juice and it was fantastic. 🙂
