Raise your hand if you used to LOVE getting a McDonald’s Shamrock Shake! It’s hard to resist the sweet and creamy vanilla-and-mint Shamrock Shake. It’s such a treat!

It is definitely not keto-friendly though. Get this: a SMALL McDonald’s Shamrock Shake has a whopping 74g carbs. A large? 130g!!!!!!! (Yes, all of those exclamation points are most definitely needed.) You’ll love this copycat recipe with only 1.4g net carbs and a hidden healthy ingredient: spinach! It’s so good, you’ll find yourself whipping up this copycat recipe year-round.

Why I Use (and Love) Equip Protein Powder + Coupon!

The short version: it tastes fabulous and is perfect for keto!

The long version: Prior to embarking on a keto diet, I had been dairy-free for almost a decade because dairy began to cause some strange issues for me like next-day undereye and facial puffiness, acne, and nearly instant sinus drainage.

I tried dairy-free keto for about a month, but then I made the big decision to experiment with introducing dairy into my diet yet again because, let’s face it, dairy is soo good and it makes the keto diet extra-delicious. To my surprise, I had no issues for quite a long time! However, in the past few months, my dairy issues flared up again (plus a few new ones), so I decided to significantly scale back on dairy.

In addition to other replacements, I wanted to replace my vanilla whey protein powder with a dairy-free, keto-friendly protein powder, which was NOT an easy task. I finally stumbled upon Equip Protein Powder and rejoiced! It contains 0g net carbs, 24g protein, and tastes delicious. It’s actually made from “beef protein isolate,” which I know sounds disgusting 🙂 , but I assure you it is not. (It does not taste like beef at all.) I love both the chocolate and vanilla flavor, but the vanilla is especially tasty.

Optionally, you can top your Keto Shamrock Shake with keto-friendly whipped cream.

How to Add Keto-Friendly Whipped Cream

  • The easiest method: look for canned whipped cream at the store that emphasizes “real cream” or “natural ingredients.” I used Kroger Extra Creamy Dairy Whipped Topping with Real Cream with 1g net carbs per 2 tbsp.
  • Make your own: follow this recipe!

As long as you use baby spinach instead of mature spinach, you’ll be shocked by how easy it is to hide the flavor of spinach in your smoothies!
