Product Recommendations

I’ve been successfully sugar-free since May 2009, so you could say I have a bit of experience with finding sugar-free products that taste good. I’ve included some of my favorites on this page. I hope you like them as much as I do!

Beverages

Perrier Sparkling Natural Mineral Water, Pink Grapefruit, 8.45 oz. (Pack of 30): This is my favorite sparkling water. It’s refreshing, bubbly, and completely sugar-free!

Taste Nirvana Real Coconut Water, 16.2 oz. (Pack of 12): I’ve tried a lot of coconut water brands, and this one is the best by far. Coconut water is naturally supersweet, so drink it sparingly, but it makes a fun treat or smoothie addition.

Native Forest Organic Classic Coconut Milk, 13.5-oz. Cans (Count of 12): Yum! This is my go-to coconut milk. It’s not only sugar-free, but it also is free of natural sugar.

Dried Fruit

Dried fruits are high in natural sugar and very easy to overeat, so it’s important to not eat them mindlessly, but they’re great as a treat or topping (on oatmeal, yogurt, etc.)

Organic Date Lady Dates: These dates are divine … they taste like caramel and practically melt in your mouth. Everyone who knows me knows I love dates—and these are some damn good dates. 🙂

Bob’s Red Mill Date Crumbles, 20 oz (Pack of 4): Date crumbles are coated with a little oat flour and they make a great topping or mix-in, or even as a standalone snack (try them mixed with cacao nibs!).

Extra Large Maroo Raisins, 4 lbs: These raisins are plump and full of flavor—not the sad, shriveled raisins you might be used to. Plus, I love that the bag says in tiny lettering: “Raisins, aka grape zombies.”

Terrasoul Superfoods Organic Mango Slices, 12oz: Second to dates, dried mango is my favorite dried fruit. It’s chewy (kind of like a thick Fruit Roll-Up) and is bursting with mango flavor.

Terrasoul Superfoods Raw Coconut Chips (Organic), 12 oz.: Coconut “chips” (really they’re thinly shaved coconut pieces) make a great snack on their own, or you can add them to foods like oatmeal and trail mix.

Nuts and Seeds

Nutiva Organic Hempseed, Raw Shelled, 19 oz: Hempseeds are have a nutty flavor similar to pine nuts. They’re packed with protein and Omega 3s and taste great in a variety of dishes, including salads and smoothies.

Blue Diamond Almonds – 32 Grab and Go Bags, .625 oz (individual), 20 oz (net weight): These are super convenient and great to take with you when you’re busy. Only 100 calories per bag, but the protein and fat will help keep you full.

Terrasoul Superfoods Organic Raw Whole Cashews, 2 lbs: Roasted cashews are great, but I love the taste of raw cashews. They have such a fresh, buttery flavor.

Lightly Sea Salted Pumpkin Seeds In Shell, 2 lbs: These are sooo good. Pumpkin seeds are a nutrition powerhouse and the light salt on these make them both delicious and dangerous (in a good way).

Viva Naturals Raw Organic Chia Seeds, 2 lbs: Chia seeds have tons of healthy Omega 3s and are fun to add to oatmeal, smoothies, yogurt, and more. When added to a liquid, they expand and thicken what you’ve added them to. (I love to add them to almond or coconut milk because it reminds me of tapioca pudding.)

Nut and Seed Butters

Artisana Organic Raw Cashew Butter, 14 oz (pack of 2): This stuff is divine. Smooth, creamy, and contains no added sugar or salt.

Artisana 100% Organic Raw Coconut Butter, 14 oz: Divine x 2. If you’ve ever had coconut oil, coconut butter is a totally different creature. It’s naturally sweet, spreadable (if you warm up the jar in a bowl of hot water or in the microwave), and reminds me of frosting.

NaturAlmond Almond Butter, Salt-Free, 12 oz: By far the best almond butter I’ve ever tried!

Crazy Richards 100% Natural Creamy Peanut Butter, 16 oz: As simple as you can get: just peanuts. Plus, it doesn’t contain any salt, which is a big plus. Some of the other natural peanut butters load their product with salt, which can give it a not-so-good flavor.

Soom Foods Organic Pure Ground Sesame Tahini Paste, 16 oz: This is the best tahini out there, in my opinion. It tastes incredible drizzled over roasted vegetables!

Oils

PJ KABOS 16.9Fl oz. Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil: This is absurdly good olive oil straight from Greece. It has been rated “one of the world’s best olive oils” multiple years in a row and for good reason! You might be tempted to drink it straight out of the bottle. 🙂 (If it’s sold out, this is another incredible one.)

Dr. Bronner’s Virgin Coconut Oil Whole Kernel, 29 oz: I’ve tried a lot of coconut oils and I keep coming back to this one. It smells amazing and the flavor is top notch!

Protein

Wild Planet Sardines No Salt in Water, 4.375 oz (pack of 12): I know what you’re thinking … “Ugh, sardines?” But these are high-quality (much less “fishy” than low-quality sardines), packed with protein and Omega 3s, and taste really good when mashed with spicy mustard or even cream cheese.

Snacks

Larabar Gluten Free Bar, 1.7 oz bars (16 count): Larabars are great grab-and-go snacks. They’re mostly made of dates and nuts, and they come in a variety of tasty flavors. (On the Amazon page, select your desired flavor in the area below the price.)

Larabar Mini Bars – Variety, 9.36 oz – 12 count: If you want a smaller bar, Larabar makes a few flavors in mini bars.

Terrasoul Superfoods Raw Organic Criollo Cacao Nibs, 16 oz: Some might consider these more of a “garnish” than a snack, but I’ve been known to eat them on their own. They’re crunchy with an intense chocolate flavor.

Scharffen Berger Baking Bar, Unsweetened Dark Chocolate (99% Cacao), 9.7 oz packages (pack of 2): If you’re dying for an actual chocolate bar to satisfy your chocolate craving, try this. It is mind-blowingly good and oh-so-chocolately.

Good Health Kettle Style Olive Oil Potato Chips, Sea Salt, 5 oz bags (pack of 12): Just potatoes, olive oil, and sea salt in these chips! I think chips cooked in olive oil taste a million times better than those cooked in other oils. Try all three: sea salt, rosemary, and cracked pepper.

Spices and Seasonings

Bragg Sprinkle Herb and Spice Seasoning, 1.5 oz: This is a super tasty salt-free herb and spice blend that livens up just about anything. I’ve tried it in eggs, veggies, soups, meat, and beans, and it has tasted great in all of them.

Light Grey Celtic coarse sea salt, 1 lb bag: This is my go-to sea salt. It’s rich in minerals and is so much more flavorful than other sea salts I’ve tried. It’s a wet salt, which might seem a little strange if you’re not used to it, but I’ve come to really like it. If you’d prefer a fine ground salt rather than a coarse salt, you can get the fine ground version here.

Black Truffle Salt, 1 lb bag: If you want to get even fancier with your sea salt, try this black truffle sea salt. It has a rich, earthy flavor. I love it on popcorn (with a little coconut oil) and hard boiled eggs.

Stevia

Now Foods Organic Stevia, 4 oz: Although stevia is out on Forget Sugar Friday, if you want to include some in your diet on other days, this one is a good choice. It’s organic, tastes good, and doesn’t contain any fillers. When you use it, keep in mind that a little stevia goes a long way!

Kitchen Tools

Silicone Baking Mat Set, (2) Half Sheets: These will change your baking life! They’re nonstick, approximately 5,000 percent (my estimate) easier to clean than a baking sheet alone, and you don’t have to waste parchment paper or foil. I love to use them to roast veggies!
