How to Make Keto Chicken Alfredo Casserole

This is just a quick overview of how to make the casserole. For the recipe in detail, scroll to the recipe card at the end of the post.

Make the alfredo sauce on the stovetop and set it aside. (FYI, the sauce thickens up substantially when it cools.) Then, preheat your oven to 350 F while assembling the casserole. Into a casserole dish (I used a 7″ x 11″ dish), place your cubed cooked chicken breast and then pour the alfredo sauce on top.

Then add the mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese in an even layer on top.

Next, sprinkle crushed pork rinds on top.

Place into the preheated oven and cook for 25 minutes. Out comes this beautiful casserole with browned pork rinds, melted cheese, and bubbling alfredo sauce. Happiness in a casserole dish:

Serve and enjoy!

How to Add Fettuccine Noodles to your Keto Chicken Alfredo Bake

If you find yourself wishing for fettuccine noodles in your alfredo sauce, you can make that a reality without the carbs by using fettuccine “Wonder Noodles.” These are net carb-free noodles made from a starch found in the konjac yam. They come in packages in water, and once you rinse them thoroughly, you can use them just as you would cooked noodles. To use them in this recipe, warm them quickly in the microwave and then add them to your serving of cooked casserole.

I buy my Wonder Noodles at an awesome price via Thrive Market, which is pretty much like the Costco of high-quality natural foods! How Do You Make Chicken Alfredo Keto-Friendly?

You make chicken Alfredo keto-friendly by using heavy whipping cream, extra cheese and pork rinds instead of heavy carb noodles, milk, flour, or breadcrumbs.

How to Use Keto Alfredo Sauce

In addition to using keto alfredo sauce in this recipe, here are a few more ideas:

  • Serve with Wonder Noodles (as shown above) or zoodles (noodles made from zucchini)
  • Spruce up plain low carb veggies, like broccoli or cauliflower
  • Use as a dressing on mixed greens
  • Spread on keto bread (when chilled, this keto alfredo sauce is very thick) instead of mayo
  • Use instead of pizza sauce on keto pizza
  • Serve as a dip on a keto veggie platter
  • Use as a chicken marinade

    • Hi Bri, Thank you! 🙂 Re: serving portion size, I usually just eyeball it if it’s a casserole that is very low in carbs like this one, but to be more precise, you can weigh the whole casserole and divide by the number of servings.

Made this tonight! So easy and delicious! Thank you for the great recipe! Can’t get over how good the sauce is!

  • 5 stars
thank you Jessica for such a wonderful and easy recipe! I made this recipe for my church group which provided a low carbs and gluten free dish. I also make it for myself and my husband who is diabetic. It just fills the bill and is so delicious and easy! I can’t stand the thought anymore of opening up a jar of alfredo sauce from the store! Thank you so much!

    • Judy, thank YOU for leaving such a wonderful comment! I am so happy you and your friends/family are enjoying the recipe! 🙂

This is sooo delicious! I have made this keto chicken alfredo casserole for many family members and everyone loves it. Many thanks!

  • 5 stars
I made this tonight! I didn’t do the pork rind crumbs. I used a rotisserie chicken and this turned out so good!!
    Thanks for the recipe 😊

Another keeper!!! So tasty, easy and quick.
There’s just the two of us so I cut the recipe in half basically, pretty much eye-balled the amounts but it turned out great!

    • Hi Linda! Yes it could. I wouldn’t keep it in the fridge too long though before cooking – 2 to 3 days tops – and I would hold off adding the pork rinds until right before baking.

    • Hi Scarlett! Each serving contains 2.3g net carbs. (None of the ingredients contain fiber, so the total carb amount equals the net carb amount.)

      • i’am going to try this recipe for my picky family, instead of the pork rings can I use panko bread crumbs or should I just leave it out?

        • Hi Shannon! If your family is keto or low carb, you will want to skip the bread crumbs because those will increase the carb count too much. If they’re not, feel free to use them. Enjoy!

    • Hi Donyell! It needs to be baked so I don’t think it would be a good fit for a crockpot, but you can definitely make the chicken (which needs to be pre-cooked) in your crockpot. 🙂

    • Hi Laura! Do you follow keto? If so, there isn’t really a good keto-friendly substitute (potato chips are too high in carbs to work). If you don’t follow keto, you could use crumbled bread crumbs.

  • 5 stars
I made it today for the family and it’s the best Alfredo sauce I have ever made. Thanks for the recipe!

  • I made this tonight, but for some reason the sauce came out more like clumpy, stringy cheese. It didn’t make a liquid-y sauce. Any thoughts on what I did wrong?

    • Hi Scott, I’m so sorry you had trouble with the recipe! What kind of grated parmesan cheese did you use? I’ve only made this recipe with the pre-grated stuff (e.g., Kraft) which I believe has an anti-caking agent that helps with clumping. If you used that type of cheese, another thing you can try is to add the cheese in smaller batches.

    • Hi Tory! As long as you evenly distribute the ingredients, you can just eyeball it. This recipe is very low in carbs, so you won’t have an issue if there is a slight variation in serving size.

    • Hi Brandy! I haven’t heard of bar Alfredo. Do you have a link so I can check it out and give a recommendation? Thanks!

  • 5 stars
Fabulous homemade Alfredo sauce! Easy to make and helps me avoid all of the nasty additives in the store bought brands.

  • 5 stars
Just made this tonight and it was sooo good! I didn’t use pork rinds on the top, because I made my own homemade keto breadcrumbs. Can’t wait for the leftovers! Thank you for the great recipe!

  • I added a (cooked) frozen bag of broccoli and it gave it something other than just chicken and cheese. It was amazing😍 Highly recommend

It’s on the weekly rotation in my household! Such an easy recipe and sounds even better when you say you may the sauce yourself! A winner for any age!

    • Mackenzie, thank you so much for the review! I am honored that it’s in your household’s weekly rotation! 🙂

This Keto chicken alfredo casserole is a wonderful meal. It is simple to put together and the whole family enjoys it. My seven year old son asked for seconds. The chicken alfredo makes life easier because even though I am the only one on Keto in the house, everyone likes this meal. Thanks.

    30+years experience making Alfredo:
Tweeks… Use 1 cup of fresh parmesan for better flavor:

1 cup heavy cream rather than 3/4 cup.
Melt the butter on medium, when almost fully melted add garlic, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, fresh cracked pepper, cream and cream cheese, whisking and heating constantly until smooth. Omit salt if using salted butter.

Turn heat to very low. To avoid stringy texture, parmesan should be added to fully combined butter/cream mixture 1/4 cup at a time, off of heat or very low heat, fully whisking until smooth after each addition. Do not simmer after whisking in parmesan until smooth. as this will clump the parmesan.

Meat from 1 rotisserie chicken cubed (24 oz of meat) worked well.

The original recipe above has 20 carbs in the entire casserole. It serves about 5. So 4 carbs and/or 4 net carbs per serving.

I substituted 1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs for the rinds adding 5 carbs per serving.
I added 1 cup pearl onions, extra moisture removed. Add 2 carbs per serving.
I added 8 oz fresh mushrooms. 1-2 carbs per serving.

I love this Keto Chicken Alfredo Casserole. It is very easy to make and tastes wonderful. I like how all the flavors blend together. With the combination of cream cheese, heavy whipping cream, butter and cheeses, it is very creamy and filling. I usually make this for my Sunday dinner and then have leftovers for easy meals at the beginning of the work week.

  • How many breasts is 5 cups of chicken for you? I used rotisserie and used both breasts from two chickens, so four. And I ended up needing two batches of sauce or it would have been dry I think. Just double checking.

    • Hi Samantha! It’s tough to nail down that number because chicken breasts vary so widely in size and because of the difference between raw and cooked volume. That said, a standard-sized rotisserie chicken usually has about 3 cups cooked chicken breast, so using 2 chickens sounds close.

This was so good!! So flavorful and filling. I used some frozen cubed plain chicken. Definitely going to be in my regular rotation! I had it with green beans with Parmesan cheese on top.

  • 3 stars
Precooking the chicken and then cooking it again for 25 mins resulted in dry and overcooked chicken. Just browning it would probably be sufficient.
